“He who plants a tree, plants a hope” – Lucy Larcom
ISLAMABAD: Nature is God’s most beautiful creation. He facilitates the growth, development and nourishment of all his creatures. To pay tribute to our country of 75e Pakistan Independence Day, Team Save Dreams organized a planting campaign on August 13, 2022 in collaboration with the environmental wing of the Capital Development Authority and Team Wefixers under the banner “Muhm Shajr-e-Sayadar”.
Considering the multiple benefits of trees, including the fact that they provide us with oxygen, provide us with food, absorb unpleasant odors as well as harmful gases from the air and filter it, protect us from dangerous ultraviolet rays, provide us with food, shelter various species of animals; and the central role played by trees in preventing soil erosion, maintaining ecological balance and above all in reducing the effects of global warming and environmental changes, made us realize that it was time for we were launching a project to preserve the beauty of our capital, Islamabad.
The “Muhm Shajr-e-Sayadar” drive was inaugurated in the presence of Miss Javeria Maqbool, Deputy Director of the Environment Wing, CDA. A total of 150 trees, including Lagerstroemia Indica, Pongamia Pinnata commonly known as SukhChayn, Bauhinia Variegata and Cassia Fitsula, were planted by the 15 enthusiasts from two teams at the event site; the grounds of Convention Center, Islamabad. 50 of them were provided to us by the WeFixers team and 100 were provided by the CDA Environnement team, who not only assigned us the site to carry out the event, but also provided us with their team of professional gardeners.
A letter of gratitude was also presented by our team to Miss Javeria Maqbool who in return honored our team members namely; Hayah Bahroni, Rafia Ali, Ayesha Siddique, Noor-ul-Huda, Omama Basit, Mohammad Ibrahim, Abdullah Siddique, Humayal Ahmed and QasimWaqar; with letters of appreciation acknowledging our hard work for this worthy cause.
Disturbances or ecological imbalances can lead to droughts, floods and many other natural calamities and disasters that can cause immense damage and destruction to life and property, which is why it is imperative to save trees and conserve them, so that we can maintain a balance in the ecosystem and ensure overall health and harmony. To achieve this, we need to plant more and more trees to neutralize the damage already done. It’s time we all broke the mold and started planting because the solution to saving Mother Earth; which is being destroyed at the hands of its own children by deforestation, waste and the dumping of oils and fuels into its once clear rivers and oceans; is to grow trees. Today, let’s all promise that we will actively contribute to the birth of a healthy, green, clean, prosperous and self-sufficient Pakistan, and that we will take at least one small step to protect our environment by PLANTING TREES. save all the trees and Save the Dreams.
