Romulus Farm Suffers Massive Loss of $ 150,000+ After Vineyard Rd. Fire

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office is providing new information on a fire that was reported in the town of Romulus earlier this week.

This happened around 9:50 a.m. on Monday when MPs responded to 2539 Vineyard Rd. In Romulus with the report of a work structure fire.

MPs said the owners of the farm, identified as Stephen and Fannie Hertzler, called 911 to report a store that was completely ablaze with a nearby barn in danger.

Firefighters from Romulus, Ovid, Varick, Fayette, Interlaken, Waterloo and Border City all responded to the scene. The South Seneca Ambulance and Seneca County 911 Center also assisted at the scene, according to deputies.

They say the workshop, as well as several dogs, cows and equipment could not be saved. The structure was a total loss with an approximate value of over $ 150,000.

MPs said the barn with 11,000 chickens was slightly damaged, but no livestock were lost there.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
