National Digital Livestock Mission master plan unveiled
Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Livestock and Dairy Production, Sanjeev Balyan, said the livestock sector was set to take a leap forward after the implementation work of the national digital breeding mission (NDLM).
Launching the mission master plan at NDDB headquarters in Anand on Thursday, the minister said the mission’s goal is to create a farmer-centric, technology-based ecosystem, which farmers are able to achieve. better income through breeding activities with the right information. .
NDLM is a digital platform jointly developed by DAHD and NDDB based on the existing Information Network for Animal Productivity and Health (INAPH).
Balyan said: âThe livestock sector has a unique combination of being the backbone of rural livelihoods. Growth would have been much better had there been concerted efforts to harmonize programs across the country to create an ecosystem conducive to the growth of the sector.
Meenesh Shah, chairman of NDDB, said the foundation of NDLM will be the unique identification of all livestock.
âFarmers will be able to effortlessly access markets, regardless of their location or farm, thanks to this digital platform. This system will also include robust animal breeding systems, nutrition, disease surveillance, disease control programs and a traceability mechanism for animals and animal products, âShah said.
