New Delhi: Livestock sector can help realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of doubling farmers’ incomes in our country, Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister for Fisheries, Livestock, said today and the dairy industry in Guwahati. He was addressing the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the Government of Assam for the development of the newspaper in the state.
Rupala in his speech appreciated the initiatives undertaken by the state government for the growth and development of the dairy sector in Assam. He asserted that new technology in the field of animal husbandry must reach the farmers so that they can benefit from it.
Union Minister Shri Rupala and Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma also unveiled the foundation stone for the Purabi Dairy expansion project under the Assam Agribusiness & Rural Transformation project.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, said the initiatives taken by the state government will transform the rural economy and boost the dairy sector. He further added that under the MoU, a joint venture worth Rs 2,000 crore would be established between the state government and NDDB in Assam.
Atul Bora, Minister of Agriculture, AHVD and Cooperation, Government of Assam said in his speech that this venture will bring a white revolution in the state and its objectives are to create transformative capabilities milk to manage and add value to over 10 lakh liters of milk every day. . This will not only help more than 1.75 million farmers to increase their income, but also create huge jobs at different levels of the milk value chain, he added.
Minister of Livestock and Veterinarian, Mizoram, Dr. K. Beichhua, Chairman of NDDB, Shri Meenesh Shah, Addl. Chief Secretary, Cooperation Department, Govt. of Assam, Shri Maninder Singh, Secretary, Department of Livestock and Dairy Industry, GoI, Shri Atul Chaturvedi were also present at the event.
