Livestock manager Kmr launches foot-and-mouth disease vaccination program
Srinagar: Kashmiri Livestock Department Director Purnima Mittal on Tuesday launched the prestigious foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccination program under the National Animal Disease Control Program (NADCP-FMD) (2nd round) of Srinagar district.
The vaccination campaign was also successfully launched in all districts of Kashmir province.
As part of this program, “free” vaccinations against foot-and-mouth disease are carried out.
On this occasion, health cards were also distributed to farmers whose animals were vaccinated.
Taking the floor, the director of the Kashmir Animal Husbandry Department stressed the importance of vaccination for the prevention and control of foot-and-mouth disease in cattle.
She also interacted with progressive dairy farmers / entrepreneurs, who expressed their joy and appreciated the efforts / initiatives of the department regarding various programs / policies / guidelines.
All relevant field workers have been asked to prepare for 100 percent vaccination coverage of the eligible cattle population.
The foot-and-mouth disease control program is a 100 percent centrally funded program. It aims to control foot-and-mouth disease by 2025 with the eradication of vaccination by 2030.
