Srinagar, December 27: The Srinagar Animal Husbandry Department wraps up Good Governance Week celebrations on Monday with a range of events including self-employment induction units under IDDS, distribution of letters of approval among the candidates and an awareness camp concerning the winter management of the breeding and departmental programs.

The final event of the week-long celebrations took place at the Block Veterinary Office, Hawal. The event which was chaired by Livestock Manager, Srinagar, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad Mir, was also attended by Dr Suhail Jan Kawoosa (Block Vet, Batpora), Dr Sabah Handoo (Block Vet, Srinagar) and other officials of the Department.

Seven milk vans that beneficiaries purchased with a 50% grant from the Department of Animal Husbandry under the Integrated Dairy Development Program 2021-22 have been officially inducted. The vans will prove essential in ensuring the mobility of the beneficiaries, allowing them to improve their marketing capacity by reaching markets beyond their normal area of operation. This will help them to obtain remunerative prices for their products in addition to proving to be of great help in the transport of animal feed and fodder for the dairy units.

On this occasion, letters of approval for new dairy units and milk vans/equipment were also distributed to ten candidates.

An awareness camp was organized to publicize departmental programs and collect public comments on the functioning of the Department. Head of Livestock, Srinagar, addressing the rally called on the officials as well as the beneficiaries to spread the message regarding the department’s successful initiatives to encourage and motivate the general public, especially the youths, to avail the programs of work independent of the department. The participants expressed satisfaction with the support received from the department and appreciated the outstretched hand of department officials to help them set up their units.
