Government establishes National Advisory Committee for Livestock and Dairy Sector

India’s Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy (FAHD) has announced the formation of a National Advisory Committee for the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Sector which includes several experts from the industry as well as business leaders.












The newly formed committee will be chaired by the Honorable Minister of Union (FAHD), Parshottam Rupala, and co-chaired by the Honorable MoSs (FAHD), Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan. The 48-member committee will meet once every quarter during a fiscal year to discuss, suggest, prescribe and advise on sector policies.

The Joint Secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Products (DAHD), Dr OP Chaudhary, will act as secretary member of the DAHD Plan Committee and Coordinating Unit. The government will provide all secretarial assistance to the Committee.

The committee includes prominent industry experts such as Dr. RS Sodhi, MD, AMUL (GCMMF), Gujarat – Representative of Cooperative Dairy Federations, Dr. Inderjeet Singh, VC, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University, Ludhiana, Managing Director of Godrej Agrovet Limited, Balram Singh Yadav etc.












Upon the appointment, Managing Director of Godrej Agrovet Limited, Balram Singh Yadav said, “I am grateful to the ministry for giving me this opportunity. It is an honor to work with some of the brightest and most committed minds in the industry and to contribute to the future growth of the country. The fisheries, livestock and dairy sectors have much to do to enhance their contribution to the Indian economy as a whole. I am convinced that the right policies and ecosystems have been created through the concerted efforts of government and industry. will lead to strong job creation and help increase farmers’ incomes”.












It should be noted that in addition to government officials and industry experts, the committee also includes farmers and labor leaders, to recommend, prescribe and advise on policies relating to livestock and dairy development, feed and fodder, poultry, pigsty, sheep, goals, animals. health, other livestock, etc.
