Farmers in Andhra Pradesh must follow these crop and livestock specific advisories until May 25, 2022

General opinion: The coastal region of Andhra Pradesh is likely to receive below normal rainfall during the following week i.e. 25th May to 31st May 2022.

Farmers advised to use subsoilers as this will break up the hard layers of soil and also help to increase the water storage capacity of the soil during the rainy season.

For Kharif rice cultivation, farmers need to start land preparation works. Farmers should carry out deep plowing in the summer to eliminate soil-borne pests and diseases during the cultivation period.

Transport and obtain FYM from the field itself for application at the last tillage. Collect good quality seeds from reputable companies. Seed treatments follow strictly. Acquire knowledge on the use and supply of herbicide for weed management during the first rain showers. Get green manure seeds.

Crop Specific Notice:

Sugar cane: As there are forecasts of rainfall in the next five days, use rainfall and opt for urea treatment at 150 kg/ac for a 45 day raccoon crop and 75 kg/ac for a 90 day plant crop. days. Similarly, for wet treatment of seeds, soak the seeds for 24 hours in the solution prepared with carbendazim at 1 g/kg of seeds per liter of water and incubate for 24 hours before sowing in the nursery.

Cotton: Current weather conditions are favorable for flower and bud drop in cotton, to control Planofix spray at 0.25ml/litre to control flower droppings and current conditions are also favorable for leaf spot incidence for leaf spot control Hexaconazole spray at 2.0 ml/lit .

Peanut: Using the subsequent rainfall – for land preparation for sowing early Kharif groundnut with high yielding groundnut varieties like Dharani, Narayani, Kadiri-7, Bheema, Kadiri-9.












Farmers growing peanuts for seed should tie the harvested plants in bundles and dry them in the shade to ensure the moisture content is 8-9%. Sprinkle 5% malathion powder over stored seeds once every 2-3 weeks.
