Department of Livestock and Dairy Industry launches integration with PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan

The Department of Livestock and Dairy Industry has started the process of integrating various infrastructure of the department with PM Gati Shakti-National Master Plan (NMP), said the Ministry of Fisheries, Livestock and Agriculture. the dairy industry in a press release.

“The department has integrated its 12 breed improvement institutions (7 central cattle breeding farms, 4 central herd registration systems and central frozen semen production and training institute) located at various places across the country with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, a digital platform to bring together 16 ministries, including railways and roads, for integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects,” the ministry added. .

Multimodal connectivity will provide integrated and seamless connectivity for the movement of people, goods and services from one mode of transport to another. It will also facilitate last mile infrastructure connectivity and reduce travel time.

Integration of other institutions such as Regional Forage Stations (RFS), Central Poultry Development Organizations (CPDOs) with PM Gati Shakti NMP is ongoing.

“In the future, the department plans to integrate all veterinary dispensaries, milk processing plants, cooling centers and infrastructure projects under various programs with PM Gati Shakthi NMP digital platform “, said the ministry.

This step will facilitate the effective management of the infrastructure available in the livestock and dairy sector in the country.

The livestock sector is crucial to the Indian economy as it comprises a third of the GVA of the agricultural and related sector and has a CAGR of over 8%. “At the same time, livestock, dairy and fishing activities play an important role in generating income for farmers, especially among landless, small and marginal farmers and women, in addition to providing cheap and nutritious food to millions,” the ministry added.
