New Delhi: Under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav, Atul Chaturvedi, Secretary, Department of Livestock and Dairy Production and NN Sinha, Secretary, Department of Rural Development signed a memorandum of understanding between DAHD and the MoRD to leverage the SHG platform for rural economic growth through the convergence of Livestock and Dairy Department (DAHD), MoFAHD and National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), MoRD today in Krishi Bhawan in the presence of Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister for Fisheries, Livestock and Dairy Production and Giriraj Singh, Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Fisheries, Livestock and Dairy Products, Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste, Minister of State for Rural Development and Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Minister of State for Rural Development were also present. .
- The Department of Livestock and Dairy Production offers more employment and entrepreneurship opportunities to the agricultural community through various interventions and flagship programs such as AHIDF (Fund for the development of infrastructure for livestock), DIDF (Dairy Infrastructure Development Fund), NADCP (National Animal Disease Control Program) for foot-and-mouth disease (foot-and-mouth disease) and brucellosis etc.
- Recently, the government approved the implementation of a special package for the livestock sector consisting of several activities by reviewing and realigning various components of existing programs in order to focus the development of livestock and dairy production. across the country for the next 5 years from 2021-2022. .

- Therefore, the harmonization and synergy of the efforts of DAHD and DoRD under the common goal of helping farmers and doubling their income through the livestock sector is the need of an hour.
In accordance with the MoU, he also decided to use the services of self-help group members as livestock resource people and primary service provider through a new accredited model called “A-HELP”. (Accredited agent for the health and extension of animal production). This model will be implemented nationwide using the existing framework developed under the DAY-NRLM for Livestock (Pashusakhis) by providing additional training and accreditation as an A-HELP worker.
Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) has supported the agricultural livelihood sector through both backward and forward linkages. As part of backlinks, support is provided through a framework of pashusakhis who are trained through structured modules as part of the training and capacity building architecture and provide services by taking the Mahila Kisans through Pashu Pathsalas and Farmer Gate Services. The mission has more than 40,000 Pashusakh in their fold. This convergence will help increase the reach of DAHD programs through these community frameworks and will also help generate additional income for the frameworks, thus helping to improve their sustainability.
The Union Minister of Fisheries, Livestock and Dairy Production, Parshottam Rupala, underlined that the efforts of articulation and synergy of DAHD and DRD, especially in the context of the common goal to help farmers and to double their income through the livestock sector, is the need for an hour.
Giriraj Singh, Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj congratulated the two departments for signing this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and wish an effective joint synergistic work of the two departments towards the common goal of improving rural prosperity and the most efficient use of existing resources.
